After 10 years of trying, Snow Patrol have a hit album. But they're not rushing to cash in on it. Who's lighting up your town this year?
It takes a certain kind of celebrity to turn on the Christmas illuminations, says Alexander Games. It's official. Marylebone High Street, just north of Oxford Circus, is now twinned with Helena Bonham Carter. The deal was rubber-stamped the moment the star of A Room with a View and Fight Club accepted the invitation to switch on the street's Christmas lights. The two are now in spiritual union, like the twin towns of West Bromwich and Amritsar in India; like GMTV's Lorraine Kelly and the rectorship of Dundee University.
