Fabric of life
Have you ever been distracted by Jon Snow's ties? Well next time, as you curse yourself for missing half the broadcast, seek comfort in the fact the item of clothing may well have come from Fife where Jane Keith is fast becoming tie designer to the stars.

Spreading the word
As someone from south of the border, who once though Hogmany was something to do with a plethora of pigs; has smiled bemusedly at people complaining of being in a "fankle"; and nodded understandingly when people have recounted tales of seeing someone "fair gaun his dinger"; I have to say I was intrigued to hear the Dr Victor Skretkowicz, of Dundee University's English department has put a Scots Dictionary online.

The massacre that dare not speak its name
What took place in the Jenin refugee camp two years ago on April 3 didn't happen, if the North American media are to be believed. It is not believable that only a few people have been killed, given the reports we have that a large number of people were inside three- and four-storey buildings when they were demolished".
