Genetic research funding boost

Skiing: Doctor arrives at speed
Dr Nigel Brockton became the first British ski racer to win a FIS World Cup event in Altausee, Austria, last weekend. Dr Brockton, who hails from the 'speed freak' end of ski racing - speed skiing - admitted that it was worth the broken ribs, broken wrist, dislocated shoulder, and cruciate knee ligament injuries he has suffered competing in the last decade.

Safe driving reminders
Topping the list of prescription drugs that can impair driving are benzodiazepines, the anxiety-reducing compounds found in Valium, Ativan, Xanax, and many other tranquilizers. In 1999, researchers at the University of Dundee in Great Britain, studying thousands of first-time car crashes over a three-year period, found that nearly 9% of the drivers involved had used such tranquilizers.

That is what the world's leading automated teller machine (ATM) maker NCR has in mind. The University of Dundee cooperated with NCR on research.
