Scientists at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School are looking to increase their prediction skills and hone their techniques through a Breast Cancer Campaign-funded study. Grant holder Dr Thomas Friedberg and his team will be putting the £81,150 awarded by the charity to a more scientific use

SARS fear as Ninewells tests couple
Tests on an Angus couple suspected of having contracted the SARS virus have suggested that the pair may not, in fact, be suffering from the life-threatening illness. Last night, a spokesman for Dundee University, which has exchanges with Chinese students, said, "We are advising all students to closely follow the Foreign Office guidance regarding travel, and all students who have recently been in the areas hit by SARS should see their GP immediately if they experience flu-like symptoms."
