BAFTA 'award' for University School of Television & Imaging....
Scottish Television Ltd host the BAFTA Scotland awards ceremony on Sunday 30 November. It may come as a surprise then that the University of Dundee's School of Television and Imaging, received a BAFTA 'award' three weeks ago when Steve Flack, Course Director for Animation & Electronic Media, was asked by STV to design the title sequence and the graphics for the programme.
Steve, who worked with STV's graphic designer, Enzo Fachini, decided that the animation departments' model rostrum camera studio would be ideal for shooting the titles and even recruited some help from the students. He said, "I like to design from a lo-tech point of view for a high-tech finish and using an actual award to shoot and create a very expensive computer looking end result was the aim of the excercise."
Co-incidentally it is a University of Dundee graduate who authored the awards script. Comedian and chat show host Fred MacAulay, who is currently in the spotlight with his new TV show alongside Ally McCoist, studied accountancy and jurisprudence there from 1974-78.
