Robert McLaren, Appeal Chairman of the Institute for Cardiovascular Research (TICR), is
retiring from his position to relocate to France. Robert has served the TICR appeal for five
years by spearheading a hugely successful fundraising campaign that has attracted over £4m of
donations.
A farewell dinner is to be held at the Apex Hotel on Friday 23 September as a token of
appreciation for the enormous contribution Robert has made to the success of the TICR campaign.
Robert and his wife, Dr Margaret McLaren, a lecturer in the Institute of Cardiovascular Research,
based at the University of Dundee's Medical School, are moving to the Tarn-et-Garonne region in
south-west France later this year.
TICR aims to bring together on one site, clinicians and researchers with expertise in
cardiovascular disease to create a centre of excellence tackling Scotland's number one killer -
heart disease. Phase 3 of TICR, the opening of new state-of-the-art laboratories for major
research projects took place earlier this month.
