Students flock to join new enterprise gym
The Enterprise Gym, the University of Dundee's new programme for getting students involved
in business and enterprise, has proved an instant hit with over 130 people signing up to get
"business-fit".
The Enterprise Gym has been formed by the University's Centre for Enterprise Management, and
provides a user friendly learning apparatus including online guides, mentors, workshops and
coaching sessions allowing students to easily learn about starting their own business and
meet other like- minded students in a fun and approachable environment.
A key part of the E-Gym is a series of weekly "training workouts" where a figure from the
local business community comes along to give the students some expert coaching in a specific
area.
Last night (THURSDAY SEPT 29TH) Derek Tyson, Director of St Andrews Estates (Scotland) Ltd,
spoke to students about how to generate and screen business ideas in the session at the
University Tower Building. The students then moved on to Braes bar in Perth Road for a more
informal session with Catherine Hill, Tayside Regional Manager of Prince's Scottish Youth
Business Trust and for the chance to sharpen their new networking skills.
As the programme rapidly gathers pace the membership now await the third training workout on
the 6th of October when Ross & Bonnyman Ltd will be sharing their business acumen with the
crowd.
