Faculty of Law and Accountancy awards

Photo opportunity: 5.45pm, Tuesday 28 September, Ustinov Room, Bonar Hall, University of Dundee

Almost forty students from the University of Dundee will be presented with awards at this evening's Faculty of Law and Accountancy prize-giving. The ceremony takes place in the University's Ustinov Room to recognise the outstanding performance of students from the last academic year.

Chris Hicks, now entering the second year of his accountancy degree has picked up seven awards including class medals for his exceptional academic performance. The Ernst & Young Prize, Douglas G Wilson prize and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy prize have all gone to Chris.

Second year law student, Karen Mackay, will be presented with three awards at the ceremony including the Henry Scrymgeour Prize in Law and Society and the George R Donald prize of £500.

Dean of the Faculty of Law and Accountancy, Professor Colin Reid said, "This is always a very happy occasion when we can take pride in the performance of our students. The students can only perform as well as they have with the support of the lecturers and tutors across the Faculty and of their own families. Their hard work and commitment is being celebrated tonight as well as the individual students."

External bodies and companies that sponsor the awards will award a number of the prizes. The Faculty values its strong links with professional bodies, firms and individual donors and this gives the University the chance to thank them for their continuing support and to show off the quality of the students at the University.
