photo opportunity 5.15pm, Tuesday 11 September, level 5 Matthew Building,Duncan of Jordanstone, Perth Road, Dundee.

The Lord Provost will visit the University of Dundee this afternoon to open an exhibition of photography by artists from Dundee and Moscow.

A joint exhibition of photographs from Studio 110 - a photographic group of some 50 or so photographers from Moscow and Praxis dd1 - a small group of photographers from Dundee - will be displaying their shots on the theme of landscape.

The two groups first worked together four years ago producing an exhibition Presence and Absence at Discovery Point, Dundee. The following year Studio 110 hosted an exhibition "Near and Far" in Moscow where Praxis dd1 members were able to meet professional and young photographers, visit galleries and enjoy photographic opportunities at a lake-side dacha. Roland Ashcroft and Bob McVicar - two members of Praxis dd1- held a joint exhibition in Dundee last year.

This year four of the Studio 110 group will be exhibiting at Dundee: Nikolai Korobov, Nadia Bolsonova, Sergei Bondarenko and Dimitri Davidov.

The Dundee group exhibiting are: Roland Ashcroft, Bob McVicar, Colin Wishart, Sunil Vishin Peter Nixon and James Martin. Cameron Ross from the Department of Political Science will present some paintings also based on the Landscape theme.

The work is varied in nature from traditional photography through to computer manipulated imagery and the theme Landscape is also treated broadly. In total some 50 or so images will be on display in the Matthew Gallery.

The exhibition will be formally opened by the Lord Provost of Dundee on Tuesday 11 September at 5.15pm.

The intention is for the next exhibition to be in Moscow with members of Praxis dd1 proposing the theme and visiting the city for a cultural exchange.
