Sir Alan Langlands has taken up his post
Sir Alan Langlands has taken up his post as Principal and Vice Chancellor
at the University of Dundee after six years as the Chief Executive of the
NHS Executive in England.
Giving his first impressions he said: "I am impressed by the strength and
depth of the university. It has a very high quality and standard of
teaching, world renowned research and enthusiastic students.
"The university also plays an important part in the commercial and cultural
life of the city."
He went on: "I want to build on the current strengths right across the
university's activities."
Glasgow-born Sir Alan succeeds Dr Ian Graham-Bryce who retired in August.
