Locals receive University of Dundee computer awards In a formal ceremony yesterday (Wednesday 27th) thirteen students from Dundee, Broughty Ferry and Monifieth were among those receiving awards and bursaries for outstanding achievement from the department of applied computing at the University of Dundee.
George Dunn, Niall Murdoch, Steven Dunn, Stephen Bell, Andrew Taylor, and Mark Stewart all from Dundee with fellow students Iain Wilki, Steven Saunders, Scott Milne from Broughty Ferry and Gordon McAllister from Monifieth were all presented with NCR Prizes by John Hall of NCR Dundee in recognition of their overall high standard of work and dedication throughout the year.
In addition to receiving the NCR Prize for his second year work in applied computing Steven Saunders was awarded the second year class medal for "top student". Gordon McAllister also was awarded with the Addison Wesley prize in applied computing for "top student" of the third year as well as Scottish Young Software Engineer of the Year third prize for his honours research into computers that can "see" and respond to its users.
Caser Rasool and Fiona Quinn, both of Dundee, and Peter MacMillan from Broughty Ferry were all awarded with a James Durham Faculty Bursary in support of their third year work within the department for the coming year.
Other awards made yesterday (Wednesday 27th) were to: Kris Jack, Alastair Keys and Fiona Hunter of Arbroath; Kim Philip, Nicoll Hunt and Craig Johnston of Forfar; and Michael McKeown (Glenrothes), William Minford (Tamworth), Adrian Cunningham (Co. Antrim), Soeren Bluhm (Germany) and Goeril Eriksen (Norway)./ends
