As part of the University of Dundee's 10-day 'discparc' festival, Ronnie Gurr, the music industry trailblazer and brains behind the launch of Boy George's Culture Club will be giving a public talk this evening, entitled 'A career in music?'

From journalist on New Musical Express magazine to PR promo rep for the Boomtown Rats and Simple Minds and then on to become Creative Director at Richard Branson's V2 label who signed Stereophonics, Ronnie Gurr has a wealth of experience and longevity in the music industry.

Any aspiring music promoters can hear about Ronnie's recent experience of taking 14 Scottish acts including Franz Ferdinand to the showcase 'South by South West' Festival in Austin, Texas. Ronnie will also delve into the current climate of music production, looking at developments in cutting-edge music software solutions and talking about new and independent Scottish record labels.

Ronnie's talk is one of the highlights of the ten-day music, art and performance festival celebrating the second release on the University's record label 'discparc'. The 12" vinyl record, 'DP002', features four sets by up and coming DJ's and artists, all graduates of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.

The talk starts at 6.00pm in the Duncan of Jordanstone College of art and Design's Cooper Gallery.
