Tayside is gaining a burgeoning reputation as a hotbed of young Scottish fiddling talent. Now the cream of that talent - Tayside Young Fiddlers are to put their elbows into helping people with cancer when they stage a special charity concert at the University of Dundee's Chaplaincy Centre on Tuesday (30th October) in aid of the Maggie Caring for Cancer Centre.

Led by their effervescent musical director Gill Simpson, the group of 10 selected fiddlers, including at least four champions, will take their audience through a range of music for strings from foot tapping Scottish numbers via jazz and Disney to Shostakovitch. Soloists include champion fiddlers George Smith (14) Sophie Sneddon (12) and Ingrid Hammond (17) together with Mod winning vocalist Jennifer Watson (14)

The evening will start with classical duos by Gill Simpson and Stephen Arm strong playing Cesar Franck, Henry Eccles and Camille Saint-Saens. Tickets cost £5 including refreshment and are available at the door.
