Forty-one students from the University of Dundee’s world-famous School of Life Sciences who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance will be congratulated at the annual prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday, 29th November.

The event celebrates the remarkable achievements of students from the last academic year.

2nd year student, Stephen Holland, picked up five awards including an Armitstead Bursary, as well as medals for Comparative Physiology, Genetics, Cellular & Molecular Biology and Drugs & Drug Targets.

Among the prizes awarded are two given every year in memory of Jonathon Glover, a PhD student at the School who died when ice-climbing in Glen Doll, Angus, in 1982.

Professor James Calderhead, Vice-Principal for Education Development, will make the opening address. He said, "Thanks to several generous donors, the University has a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reward the academic success of our students in the Life Sciences. These prizes are awarded for exceptional achievement and the students are to be congratulated for their hard work and intellectual endeavour over the year. Their achievement is a great credit to the University and their families."

Dr Jim Elliot, Head of Life Sciences Teaching Unit, said, "Once again we have the pleasure of recognising the substantial accomplishments of this number of Life Science students and of sharing the celebration with them and their families."
