Going to the Chapel of Love?

Photo opportunity, anytime 10am-3pm, Saturday March 15, DCA meeting room, Dundee.

Wedding day bliss or wedding day blues? A discussion about the rituals involved in tying the knot will be hosted by three academics from the University of Dundee tomorrow as part of the 4th Dundee Women's Festival.

Gail Low, Marion Wynne Davies and Kerstin Mey will host the workshop, called "Going to the Chapel of Love?" which will look at wedding rituals and relate them to participants' own experiences.

Marion said, "Some of us are wed, others idealise the dream of that perfect day and still others choose not to get married and object to the public institutionalisation of individual commitments. The day will include a discussion about contemporary ideas about marriage and its representation in film and visual arts and we'll also be decorating and eating a tiered "wedding cake".

Any women who would like to attend are invited to bring along a wedding photograph - their own or someone else's - to discuss.

The workshop takes place in Dundee Contemporary Arts' meeting room from 10am to 5pm. To book or for more information, call DCA on 01382 909900.
