The Northern Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting a cheque for £10,000 today to The Institute for Cardiovascular Research after the success of its inaugural concert last month.

Chairman of the TICR fundraising committee Robert McLaren and Ann Gloag, Vice Chairman, will receive the cheque from the orchestra's founder and conductor David Grant accompanied by fellow founder Anna Woodward.

The Northern Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra played its first concert on 15 February in the Caird Hall for the benefit of research at the Institute for Cardiovascular Research at the University of Dundee. They raised a grand total of £10,000 including £3,000 from a raffle with ten prizes for weekends for two at Beaufort Castle.

Lorraine Kelly will visit the School of Medicine later this week to open the new clinical rooms - the first completed phase of the Institute of Cardiovascular Research.
