Doctors at the University of Dundee are holding a Brain Awareness conference day today as part of European Brain week. Senior pupils from local secondaries will be attending to hear a variety of presentations on neurology which are also open to the public.

Consultants from neurosurgery will discuss a range of issues affecting the brain from the navigation of the brain to common ailments such as migraines and epilepsy. Information will be displayed on stalls so participants can take in the different topics at their own pace.

Mr Sam Eljamel, head of surgical neurology at the University of Dundee said; "I would welcome anyone who is interested to come along. Participants last year found the afternoon very informative and informal: all presentations are in lay man's language, are only ten minutes long and are delivered by pioneers from the faculty.

The conference begins at 2.30pm on Wednesday 14 March in lecture theatre 2 at Ninewells. Admission is free. Open to the public.
