Grant Leslie retires

Dr Grant Leslie retires from the University of Dundee's School of Life Sciences today after a career spanning 38 years.

Grant was appointed Assistant Lecturer in Physiology in 1965 when he was a postgraduate student studying the physiology of muscle spindles.

In more recent years, his greatest contribution to theUniversity has been teaching and thesupport of teaching and he has also been a Life Sciences representative on the key committees in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing.

Grant's close colleague Martyn Ward, who is Director of Undergraduate Teaching at the School of Life Sciences said, "Grant is a superb teacher and is greatly respected by staff and students past and present. He has played an important University-wide role over the years as a member of Court and its offshoots.

"On account of his good sense, he has been called upon to serve in various tribunals, enquiries and review bodies. He is widely respected and admired across the university, and he is a hard act to follow."
