Medaille d'Or, one of the world's top awards for websites has been awarded to Dr Paul Spicker of the University of Dundee's politics department for his social policy website which comprehensively details the origins and current systems of social welfare.

The University of Dundee is the only Scottish university to be awarded the Medaille d'Or and is one of only 14 university sites to be recognised worldwide.

Dr Paul Spicker said: "I am delighted that an educational website has been given such prestigious recognition. Medaille d'Or awards those sights with quality content as well as design. There are many University tutors who have been directing their students to my site and I am glad that it has been recognised as a valuable and accessible quality resource."

The site "Introduction to social policy" has had hits from browsers in more than 71 countries including Asia, the Middle East and Africa.ENDS
