Hopeful young sparks

photo opportunity 2pm, Thursday 28 June, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Nethergate, Dundee.

Pupils from all over Scotland will be engineering their futures at a three day residential course including visits to local businesses and design companies at the University of Dundee this week.

Senior pupils who hope to pursue engineering as a career will take part in workshops with some of the top names in maths and engineering including Professor Mark Chaplain who constructs mathematical models of cancer growth and Professor Jim Cairns of the University spin out company AMCET.

Visits to NCR, Dundee Contemporary Arts and Dundee by Design are also planned to show the pupils how valuable innovative engineers are to companies and how engineering skills are applied in the workplace.

Participants from schools as far afield as Fortrose in the Highlands and Dumfries and Galloway are staying at the University and will be housed in halls of residence on campus to give them a taste of real University life.
