Energetic fundraisers are being invited to take part in an event which will not only give their own hearts a boost, but will also benefit the hearts of others all around the country.

A Body Combat class is being held at 1pm the Bonar Hall, Park Place, on July 5 in aid of the University of Dundee's Institute for Cardiovascular Research an institute at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, which will house a team of researchers investigating all aspects of Scotland's number one killer - heart disease.

Body Combat is a martial arts-based exercise combining moves and stances developed from a range of self-defense disciplines, including karate, kickboxing, t'ai chi and tae kwon do. The adrenaline-pumping and fun routines are suitable for all ages. Moves include kicking, punching and a lot of shouting - a great stress and inhibition buster! Body Combat will strengthen arms and legs, and because it works the heart and lungs it burns calories too. All this at the same time as raising money to fight cardiovascular disease!

The event will feature 20 minutes of tuition on technique then a one hour masterclass led by Gareth and Jenni, instructors from Next Generation health club. Lucozade are the official sponsors for the event.
