Dundee Charities Committee Annual Fashion Show

PHOTO CALL - Friday 17 February at 2:30pm at the university union. The organiser, Emma Symington, will be available for quotes and a model will be wearing the 'dress for the noughties'. The designer of the dress will also be there. Photographers will also be welcome on the night of the event itself.

A dress fit for the 21st century and beyond, designed by a University of Dundee student will be just one of the highlights of a student fashion show organised by the Dundee University Charities Committee.

More than 40 models will hit the runway on Tuesday night, starting with a display of clothes from the 60's, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and the noughties, all set to appropriate music.

Egle Petrauskaite, 2nd year Art and Design Student has created a design based on a futuristic theme to act as a symbol of fashion to come.

The models will then don clothes from an array of local shops including Ann Summers, Zara, New Look, Ozzies and Bay Trading.

Hair will be styled by Dundee salon, Becs, who have kindly agreed to their salon being bombarded with scores of models participating in the show.

One of the evenings extravaganzas will be a performance by three fully trained Salsa dancers. At the interval there will be a raffle with many local shops etc having donated prizes.

Emma Symington, who is co-organising the event says, "The fashion show is a excellent way for established shops to show off their clothes, as well as introducing a designer of the future to a new audience. It promises to be an evening of great entertainment and is a fantastic way of raising money for our chosen charities."

The fashion show has become a successful annual event, raising hundreds of pounds for the Dundee University Charities Committee, who choose good causes each year to raise money for and awareness of. This year the recipients will be Alzheimer Scotland, Diabetes UK, Circles Round Dundee, who assists children with autism and adult with learning difficulties and The Kianh Foundation which sends aid to abandoned disabled Vietnamese children. To date the charities committee have raised over £2000.

The fashion show will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 21st February in Mono at the University of Dundee Union. Entry is £4 and is subject to DUSA’s normal entry restrictions.
