photo of exhibition work Media opportunity 4.30pm today (Friday 9th Feb) for the opening preview. Duncan of Jordanstone college.

First years at Duncan of Jordanstone college of art and design at the University of Dundee are exhibiting works of design and fine art in three galleries throughout the college to provide a taste of students' ideas at the start of their artistic careers.

The exhibits by 140 students celebrate the creativity and diversity of Fine Art and Design to produce evocative work, challenging the artists as well as the audience.

The exhibition covers two themes - Urban Environment which illuminates unique personal thoughts and feelings on the atmosphere, elements and character of the world in which we live and Connections - including constructions which test the creative use of futuristic and traditional materials within a functioning structure.

Curator Deirdre McKenna said: "The visuals and concepts in this exhibition are astonishing. If this standard is anything to go by the final degree show in four years time will be one of the best Duncan of Jordanstone has ever seen."

The exhibition opens on 10 February and runs until 24 February. Both the Lower Foyer and Bradshaw galleries and the Matthew gallery are open from 9.30am -8.30pm Monday to Friday and 9.30am - 4.30pm on Saturdays.ENDS
