Dean's medal is awarded to student

photo of Law Students Caroline Allerton-Austin, student in the faculty of law and accountancy at the University of Dundee was awarded the Dean's medal in absentia for outstanding and exemplary effort in her studies at the annual faculty undergraduate prizewinners reception 1999/2000 on 22 November.

The Dean's medal is only awarded occasionally to a student of deserving merit and is one of the highest honours for an undergraduate. Caroline said she was "delighted and honoured" to be recognised with the award.

Held in the breathtaking setting of the River Room in the tower building, representatives from CIMA, CIPFA, ICAS, Henderson Loggie, and NCR (Scotland) Ltd enthusiastically congratulated all the winners of the prizes they sponsor each year. Although Cavendish Books, Dickson Minto, Ernst & Young, KPMG, McGrigor Donald, Reeves and Neylan, Steedman Ramage and Thorntons were unable to send representatives this year, the Dean, Dr Alex Russell, awarded prizes on their behalf.

The Dean warmly congratulated all the prizewinners on their hard work and handed out class medals for the best students in particular subjects. Several students won multiple awards, notably Rachel Allan (2), Ann Dack (2), John Hynes (3), Susan Macauley from Letham Angus (6), Mark McLaughlin, Dundee, (2), Scott McCallum (2), Richard McDade (2), Grant Roger, Dundee, (5), Peter Scolley (4), Claire E Wilson (2), and Crawford Spence (2) who also won the Ede & Ravenscroft Prize for the best continuing student in the Faculty.ENDS
