How do artists create?

Photo Opp: Friday 10 August, 1pm at Duncan of Jordanstone College, Fine Art, Crawford Building, level 5

Twenty senior school pupils from all over East Scotland have been enjoying a week's drawing and painting activity in the School of Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee. The class, taught by Alan Watson, course tutor, took students through the process of making a painting, from two or three different sources to the production of a final work.

During the week, students made drawings on site at the Botanic Garden, participated in a day of life drawing in the studio with a professional model, and brought their research together in two days of painting.

Alan Watson explained: "This course is an excellent introduction into the artists world. It teaches some of the basic skills taught when attending art college, giving the students a chance to develop loose and more personal work."

Students on the course who are intending to apply to art related courses in further and higher education will have found the week's activity particularly useful. If you wish to attend next year's summer course, please contact the Fine Art department on 01382 345364.
