Step over the edge for charity challenge

Do you relish a challenge? Do you dare to be different? Well if the answer is yes then why not take part in a sponsored abseil in aid of Leukaemia Research Fund.

For the event - which takes place at the University of Dundee on Saturday 15th September - participants will have the chance to abseil down the side of the 134ft tall University Tower Block.

"Don't worry if you haven't done this before," says event organiser Robert Innes. We will have fully qualified instructors on hand to prepare you for the abseil," he adds.

"So if you are looking for an exciting way of raising money for a worthy cause - sign up now. This is sure to be an exhilarating experience for everyone that takes part."

Robert Innes is a voluntary fundraiser for Leukaemia Research Fund. He began raising money for the charity after his sister Kirsty died - aged 14 - of leukaemia just over five months ago.

"Too many people die from leukaemia and related diseases," he explains. "The more money we can raise, the quicker that scientists will be able to combat these cancers. It's as simple as that."

Leukaemia Research Fund funds a series of pioneering research programmes based at the Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. These programmes aim to help the 21,500 people in the UK who are diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, or one of the related cancers, each year.
