Just the ticket

photo of ticket conductor with students Over the next ten days some 300,000 bus travellers in Tayside will find their tickets also direct them to the University of Dundee's new prospectus for 2002 - as the start of the latest student recruitment campaign launched today with Strathtay Buses.

Singles? Any more flares please? - Bus conductor Chris Forbes rolls out the patter - and the new ticket - for students Bethan Rowlands (left) and Catherine Sparks. The second year English students from Glasgow and Preston respectively, reckon that the university's blend of the serious and the Fun sides of student life are "just the ticket".

This year's University of Dundee prospectus, and free CD ROM, include details of hundreds of courses from medicine to art and design, including over 20 new courses ranging from innovative product design to physiology with sports biomedicine. A new course in partnership with the University of St Andrews - microelectronics and photonics is also available for the first time.

The University of Dundee is the first in Scotland to use the new UCAS tariff system in its 2002 prospectus, making it much easier for students to assess how their qualifications stand in relation to the number of points typically needed for an offer.

Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions Gordon Craig said: "A substantial proportion of our student applications are local . Indeed every second school leaver in the Dundee area who goes on to higher education currently chooses the University of Dundee. These tickets will be used on Strathtay Bus routes from Angus and Perth./ends
