No bar to design success
Interior and environmental design students Daniel Hume, Nicky Roddy, Ingrid Schoop and Sarah Kyle won first prize in a competition to redesign the basement bar at Droothy Neebors. The team were presented with £900 by Jeff Myers, managing director of the Belhaven Brewery Company Ltd. Also present at the prizegiving was Jim McGregor, manager of Droothy Neebors, Grant Cullen, area manager of Belhaven Brewery Company Ltd and Sandy Leask, supervising architect for the project. The clients are now planning to allow students Nicky Roddy and Mark Carmichael to carry out two weeks paid placement with the architects who are carrying out the project.

Law students win moot
Five students won prizes in this year’s law mooting competition, which gives law students the chance to debate on a point of law. Jennifer Bairner, Mark McGuire and Malcolm McNeill, all studying Scots law, and Shabnam Faqir and James Johnson studying English law, were presented with book tokens by the manager of John Smith’s bookshop, Jillian Robertson.
