7 August 97
The University of Dundee's Clearing Helpline for students seeking late-entry to courses will open on Friday 8 August and for the first time will also be open on the Saturday morning following the expected arrival of the Higher exam results.
Dr Wendy Webster of the student recruitment service, who is co-ordinating the clearing service this year, says: 'We are expecting a very busy few weeks following the UCAS prediction that there will be a scramble for places, but hopefully forewarned is fore-armed. We have double the number of telephone lines this year so it should be easier for students to get through.'
The lines will be staffed by fully-briefed postgraduate and final year undergraduate students, many of whom have staffed the helpline in previous years or helped out with other student recruitment events. The Clearing Helpline number will be (01382) 34 54 64. /more
Clearing information will also be appearing on the University's World-wide Web pages (http://www.dundee.ac.uk) as well as web sites run by Hobsons Career and Education and UCAS. Listings will also be appearing in local and national newspapers.
