'Made in America 1983 - 2013' - new exhibition at University

Marge Loudon Moody, a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD), will open her first show in the UK for 30 years at the University of Dundee this weekend.

Moody has lived in the United States since 1983, and is currently a Professor in the department of Fine Arts at Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina. She graduated with a Diploma and Post-Diploma in Drawing and Painting from DJCAD, now part of the University of Dundee, in 1972. A 30-year retrospective, 'Made in America 1983-2013' opens at the University's Tower Foyer Gallery on Saturday, 28th September.

The exhibition features one of her student works alongside stunning abstract paintings created during in her time in the USA.

The artist explained, 'My work is inspired by the spirit of place and emanates from my experience of different places and from my imagination. I work in series' because one idea suggests many possible responses. Line, shape, colour and space are intuitively manipulated until they find their exact place in the piece as I achieve a harmonious expression of the essential nature of the subject.'

University museum curator Matthew Jarron said, 'We're delighted to be showing the work of this internationally renowned Dundee graduate, and honoured to be showing her first UK exhibition in 30 years. I hope visitors will be inspired by the vibrancy and colour of Marge's paintings.'

The exhibition will be on display in the Tower Foyer Gallery, University of Dundee until 16th November. Admission is free.
