Winter Graduation 2013

Photo opportunities at City Square Dundee: 9.15am on Thursday, 21st November, 1.45pm on Thursday, 21st November and 9.15am on Friday, 22nd November.

The University of Dundee's Winter Graduation takes place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November, when more than 1600 students will be joined by family and friends to celebrate their achievements.

Taking place at Caird Hall over three ceremonies, the Graduation will see students spanning a wide range of disciplines receive their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diplomas. The winter celebrations are held to allow students whose courses finish after the traditional summer graduation in late June to receive their awards as soon as possible after successfully completing their studies.

Professor Pete Downes, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, congratulated all graduating students on their achievements.

"Winter Graduation combines the best of tradition with the joy of the occasion and has established its own distinct feel," he said. "It is always a source of pride and delight to welcome students and their families here for graduation, which is a major milestone in anyone's life.

"This will be a day to remember for graduands and their guests, and it is also one that will help to inspire current students to excel academically as they experience the very special atmosphere that surrounds graduation."

On the morning of 22nd November, students from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) will receive their awards from 10am. The afternoon ceremony will begin at 2.30pm and see more CASS Graduands cross the stage, along with students from the College of Art, Science and Engineering (CASE) and College of Life Sciences (CLS).

The third ceremony, for students from the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing (CMDN) will take place at 10am the following day.

Winter Graduation Celebrations will take place in Dundee University Students' Association (DUSA) from 4-7pm on Thursday and from 2.30-5.30pm on Friday, with a programme of entertainment, including live music, provided for graduates and guests.

Tickets are available to buy at a cost of £11 each. Each Graduand is gifted a free ticket for the reception.
