A new exhibition that takes viewers into the darkest corners of artists' minds and lets their own imagination run wild opens at the University of Dundee this weekend

'Darkest Dreams' will be unveiled at the Lamb Gallery, Tower Building, on Saturday, 9th November. The show features stunning works from the University's Fine Art Collections that were inspired by our darkest dreams and nightmares. It promises to take visitors on a journey through bizarre landscapes and introduce them to some unsettling characters.

The exhibition has been co-curated by Hope Roberts who has recently joined the University's Museum Services as a full time collections intern. The placement is funded by Museums Galleries Scotland with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund's Skills for the Future programme.

She said, 'This is a fantastic opportunity for me and, as this is the first exhibition I've worked on from start to finish, I'm very excited to see how people respond to it. We've chosen some of the weirdest artworks in our collection and I think they are extremely eye-catching and thought-provoking.'

Visitors to the exhibition will be given the opportunity to record their own interpretation of the exhibition by completing response cards which will be displayed alongside each of the works.

The exhibition features paintings, drawings and prints by notable artists including Arthur Rackham, Graeme Todd, Tommy Crooks, Alan Michael, Derrick Guild and Edward Summerton. It will be on display until 11th January, although the University will be closed from 24th December - 6th January.
