Volleyball league of nations gathers in Dundee

A league of nations that spans over 50 countries will join together this weekend to celebrate a reunion for volleyball players at the University of Dundee.

The University Volleyball Club is holding a reunion for alumni from all over the world between March 8th and 10th. The club currently has 33 different nationalities represented among its current membership, while the alumni are spread around even more countries.

"If anyone was in any doubt as to volleyball's international appeal then our own members and alumni prove it beyond any doubt," said Paul McPate, Assistant Director of the University's Institute of Sport and Exercise.

"We have former players coming for the reunion weekend from all across the UK and Europe, joining the current members who hail from all over the world. Sport is one of the key ways in which our overseas students can integrate into university life so it is great to see the kind of involvement the Volleyball Club has attracted."

The multinational mix is reaping success on the court as well - the women's squad has just reached the semi-finals of the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Trophy.

The Volleyball Club hosts a reunion every three years. This year's event between March 8th and 10th will include a fun tournament, dinner and ceilidh and the opportunity for former players to join the club's training session on Friday night.
