'Celebrating Chemistry For Health, Wealth and Happiness' - public lecture Wed March 20th

Chemistry has played a huge role in improving our quality of life over past centuries but how can it meet the current global challenges around energy and water?

Professor Lesley Yellowlees, President of the Royal Society of Chemistry, will both celebrate and challenge Chemistry when she gives a public lecture in Dundee next week as part of the 'Women In Science' festival.

Chemistry has helped warm our houses, eradicate diseases, feed us and plays a key role in many aspects of everyday modern life. Professor Yellowlees will illustrate many of these achievements in her talk but also take a look towards the future and how chemistry can continue to meet the world's great challenges.

Professor Yellowlees is the first female President of the Royal Society of Chemistry and an inspiring speaker.

Her lecture is presented as part of the British Science Association Tayside branch lecture series - find out more at www.britishscience-association-taysidefife.org.

The lecture takes place in the D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre in the Tower Building of the University of Dundee, Nethergate, at 7pm on Wednesday March 20th. The lecture is open to all and admission is free.

The Women In Science 2013 festival is taking place throughout this month and is a collaboration between the Universities of Dundee, Abertay Dundee and St Andrews, the James Hutton Institute, Dundee Science Centre and the Hannah Maclure Centre. The only festival of its kind to focus on celebrating women in science, it includes a range of talks, workshops, film screenings, exhibitions and family fun days.
