London calling for DJCAD graduates

More than 100 Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) graduates will be taking their talents to London over the next few weeks to take part in some of the biggest showcase events for young designers.

The Business Design Centre plays host to this year's New Designers show, with 25 Textile Design and 18 Jewellery & Metal Design graduates taking part in the first part of the exhibition, which ends tomorrow. That will be followed by D&AD New Blood at Old Spitalfields Market on 2nd-4th July, with six Graphic Design and 11 Illustration graduates of DJCAD attending.

Thirty-three graduates of the Digital Interaction Design and Product Design programmes will participate in the second part of New Designers, which takes place from July 3rd-6th.

The exhibitions will be rounded off at the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane on 11th-15th July. Sixteen Interior Environmental Design graduates will be taking part in the show, meaning a 109-strong DJCAD contingent will have made an impact on the capital in just a few weeks.

Exhibitions such as these are visited by tens of thousands of people each year, including some of the important and influential figures in the design industry. This gives exhibitors the opportunity to develop contacts with trade professionals, potential employers and the media as well as having the chance to win awards, work placements and recognition.

Jeanette Paul, Acting Dean of DJCAD, said, "Our graduates are our best ambassadors and I'm sure that once again show why we are established one of the UK's top art and design colleges.

"New Designers, New Blood, Free Range, and other exhibitions are an exciting opportunity for them to make essential new contacts, prove they are among the best in the country and show DJCAD is at the forefront of design practice.'
