Business students have success celebrated

Photo opportunity: 3pm on Wednesday, 14th November at River Rooms, Tower Building.

The achievements of graduates and students from the University of Dundee's School of Business will be celebrated at a special Graduation Party and Prizegiving Ceremony tomorrow.

Representatives of chartered accountancy firms Henderson Loggie, EQ and MMG Archbold will address the prizewinners and present many of the 33 awards being given out at the event, which takes place at River Rooms from 3pm on Wednesday, 14th November.

Among those being recognised are five Masters students who will be receiving their degrees during the University's Winter Graduation ceremony at the Caird Hall that morning. The afternoon party will allow prizewinners to celebrate their awards with family, friends and classmates.

Professor Robin Roslender, Acting Dean of the School of Business, said it was a privilege to be hosting the event.

"We're delighted to once again be putting on a Graduation Party and Prizegiving, which is an important event for current students as well as graduates who are about to be embarking on their professional careers," he said.

"Our Prizegiving will be attended by several of the employers that the School enjoys close relationships with, and many of our graduands have already found jobs in accounting, finance and other sectors. We are delighted that the prize sponsors are able to join us on this special occasion - they help us encourage good performance and acknowledge the success of our students.

"Graduation provides the opportunity for students to return to the University in a more reflective frame of mind, to meet their classmates, their housemates and their teachers. It also provides their parents, partners and broader family members and friends with an opportunity to enjoy a day that will remain in their memories forever."

Final year accounting & finance student leads the way Christopher Parry with five awards - the A. Alasdair Lonie Memorial Prize, EQ Chartered Accountants Prize, Henderson Loggie Prize, MMG Archbold Prize and ICAS Charles Scott Prize. A range of subject and class certificates will also be presented before the Graduation Party begins.
