DJCAD graduates to exhibit at prestigious showcases

More than 100 Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) graduates will be exhibiting their work at prestigious showcase events over the next few weeks.

The talented group from DJCAD's class of 2012 will descend upon London for some of the UK's biggest showcases for emerging artists and designers, beginning with the annual New Blood exhibition at Old Spitalfields Market tomorrow.

Twenty-three Graphic Design and Illustration graduates from DJCAD will be taking part in the exhibition, which this year takes the theme of 'Connections'.

Also starting its 2012 run in the capital this week is New Designers, which will be held at the Business Design Centre between 27th June and 7th July. Among the 3500 exhibitors will be 65 graduates of the Jewellery & Metal Design, Textile Design, Product Design, and Digital Interaction Design programmes.

The exhibition season will continue with Free Range at the Old Truman Brewery from 12th-16th July. DJCAD will be represented by 18 Interior Environmental Design graduates at the showcase.

Exhibitions such as these are visited by tens of thousands of people each year, including some of the important and influential figures in the design industry. This gives exhibitors the opportunity to develop contacts with trade professionals, potential employers and the media as well as having the chance to win awards, work placements and recognition.

Professor Tom Inns, Dean of DJCAD, said, "I am confident that our graduates will once again show why we are established one of the UK's top art and design colleges.

"Each year, those graduates representing DJCAD at New Designers, New Blood, Free Range, and other exhibitions show they are among the best in the country and are at the forefront of design practice.

"This is an exciting opportunity for them to showcase their work, make essential new contacts and spread DJCAD's and the University's reputation as a leader in teaching and research."
