National University Mental Health & Wellbeing Day - Wednesday, 22nd February

The University of Dundee will next week host a range of activities to promote positive mental health and wellbeing and highlight the suppport available to students and staff.

The Student Services team have organised an awareness programme to celebrate National University Mental Health and Wellbeing Day, which takes place on Wednesday, 22nd February.

Staff from Counselling, Mental Health and Disability Services will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice to anyone who would like to chat or access information at Level 4 of Dundee University Students Association (DUSA) from 12-4.30pm.

The Institute of Sport and Exercise (ISE) will be also be at DUSA to share the positive effects of exercise on mental health and wellbeing while Bellfield Organic Nursery will be promoting the benefits of a diet rich in fruit, vegetables and other healthy foods.

Several other groups will be either on hand, or holding activities throughout the day aimed at increasing engagement with the many services on offer on campus.

Sheena Stewart of Students Services said the National University Mental Health & Wellbeing events offered a fantastic opportunity to highlight the range of support available to all members of the University community.

"We are sharing with students and staff all the support that is available on campus to help with their daily wellbeing and letting them know there is help out there for them," she said.

"This is not just about helping people with serious problems, but helping everyone get the most out of each day and keep the stress levels down, which can make an incredible difference to their lives.

"We would encourage as many students and staff as possible to get involved wherever they can. There are lots of events planned for the day so there really is something for everyone."
