Entries open for New Writing Dundee 7

Poets and prose writers, whether published or unpublished, are invited to submit entries for the upcoming seventh edition of New Writing Dundee.

NWD, a locally produced and globally focused writing anthology, began life as a magazine written and edited exclusively by students at the University of Dundee before taking on a wider remit. With support from the University's Creative Writing programme, the publication has grown to become an internationally recognised anthology showcasing Dundee's publishing potential.

Writers are encouraged to submit either a short story of up to 2000 words or 25 lines of poetry for possible inclusion in the 2012 edition by 1st July. Only one entry will be accepted per applicant.

A partnership with Literary Dundee has seen NWD become an integral part of the Dundee Literary Festival, and provide an invaluable outlet for writers seeking to hone their skills or to reach new readers.

Managing Editor Zoe Venditozzi said "New Writing Dundee gives both debut and more established writers the opportunity to showcase their work. NWD7 will feature work from the talented students on the University's own Creative Writing programmes alongside writers from around the world.

"I'm really looking forward to reading through the entries and putting together an exciting anthology of poetry and short fiction."

Each edition of NWD receives hundreds of submissions from across the world, which the editorial staff then narrow down to just a few dozen pieces of work.

All themes and genres are accepted, and submissions should be sent to literarydundee@gmail.com by 1st July. Only previously unpublished work will be accepted, and only submissions pasted into the body of an email rather than attached as a document, will be permitted.

Those selected for inclusion in New Writing Dundee 7 will be notified by 30th September.
