Heart drugs help respiratory illness
Cheap drugs normally given to patients with heart disease have been found to protect patients who also have respiratory disease. A Dundee University-led research team found that if beta blockers were taken in conjunction with inhalers, death rates were cut and patients had fewer admissions to hospital.

The sting: Thieves make off with bee hives from £1.8m research project
Thieves have stole several bee hives containing thousands of the insects from a £1.8m research project in Dundee.
The four cedar wood hives were stolen from the grounds of Ninewells Hospital.
Scientists at Dundee University's centre for neuroscience had been using the hives to explore the reasons behind the decline of the bumble bee in the UK.
