Dundee Masters Show 2011

A range of conceptual, thought-provoking and vibrant work will be on display at this year’s Dundee Masters Show when it opens later this month.

Around 50 postgraduate students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design will be exhibiting. Work from six Masters programmes - Animation & Visualisation, Design, Fine Art, Forensic Art, Media Arts, and Medical Art - will be shown.

The exhibition of work from some of the UK’s most exciting and innovative arts course, will be held at DJCAD, part of the University of Dundee, from August 27th - September 3rd.

Jeanette Paul Head of Learning & Teaching at DJCAD said, 'The postgraduate students have produced highly stimulating, thought-provoking work which demonstrates the depth of intelligent research as well as breadth of creativity, imagination and innovation.

'This year we are very pleased to be presenting work from MSc Animation & Visualisation, which is a new course, and the work demonstrates that the discipline is much more diverse than many people realise. As well as developing creative ideas for the entertainment industry and realising their own film projects, our animators engage in projects such as visualisation and animation of mathematical models of cancer tumour growth.

'Students on our Masters programmes only have one year in which to develop their work to a new level or in a different direction. They therefore work extremely hard throughout the year and their dedication is demonstrated in the work displayed in this year’s Show.

'I would encourage everyone to come along and find out more about what the students have been doing - you will be inspired.'

The Master Show 2011 celebrations will begin on Saturday 27th August when an Open Doors event takes place at DJCAD between 11am and 4pm. A range of events showcasing the work of Masters students from all programmes, including guided tours, workshops and students talks, will take place throughout the day.

The Show will conclude on Saturday, September 3rd. A special evening event to recognise the students' achievements will be held the evening before.

More information about all the exhibiting graduates is available by calling 01382 388630, emailing DJCAD@dundee.ac.uk or by visiting www.dundee.ac.uk/mastersshow.
