A welcome and goodbye to Kirkcaldy nurses
Photo opportunity: 1pm-6pm on Friday, September 10th at the University of Dundee’s Kirkcaldy Campus, Forth Avenue, Kirkcaldy. New nursing students and recent graduates will gather for a barbeque will staff.
A barbeque will be held on Friday to welcome new nursing students to the University of Dundee’s Kirkcaldy campus and to bid a fond farewell to newly qualified nurses who are leaving for the world of work.
The event, which takes place between 1pm and 6pm, has been arranged by the Student Forum in Fife, and is supported by Dundee University Students Association (DUSA) and Fife Health Board Endowment Fund.
In total, some 80 newcomers are expected along with newly-qualified nurses and staff. The School of Nursing and Midwifery Management Group will also take the opportunity to showcase newly refurbished facilities at the campus.
A contribution of £40,000 from the Fife Health Board has allowed an extensive upgrade of the lecture theatre to take place as well as the installation of new carpets, blinds, signage and equipment. A formal opening of the new lecture theatre will take place later in the year.
Head of Operations and School Secretary Jennifer Donachie said, 'This is a great opportunity for us to welcome our new students, and for them to get to know staff and learn from our recent graduates.
'As well as that, it’s a chance to say goodbye to those graduates, reward them for all their hard work and wish them all the best for the future. We’ll also be letting people see the improved facilities here and show that this investment will help us offer an enhanced experience for the students.'
