Dundee makes mark with UK's largest e-assessment conference
The latest developments in technology on offer for education and assessment of students will be examined at the UK’s largest one-day e-assessment conference, taking place at the University of Dundee this week.
Around 250 delegates are expected to attend 'eAssessment Scotland 2010: Marking the Decade' on Friday September 3rd.
The annual conference showcases innovation and best practice in the assessment field across primary, further and higher education. This year the event is broadening its scope to examine how technology can be used to enhance the use of assessment in training and the workplace.
'This is an area where the University of Dundee is one of the leading institutions in the UK and we are delighted to again be hosting this year’s conference,' said Dr David Walker, Senior Learning Technologist based in the University’s Library & Learning Centre.
'Students are increasingly studying and learning online so it is only appropriate that we have very strong methods of assessing their work in the online environment. This conference is about nurturing best practice and sharing it across the sector and it reflects the University of Dundee’s own approach to being at the forefront of e-learning.'
Keynote addresses to the conference will be made from the leading names in e-Assessment, including:
- Cliff Beevers, OBE, Chair of the e-Assessment Association, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, Heriot-Watt University
- Gráinne Conole, Professor of e-Learning, Institute of Educational Technology (IET), Open University
- Martin Ripley, 21st Century Assessment
- Derek Robertson, National Adviser for Emerging Technologies and Learning, Learning and Teaching Scotland
There will also be seminars covering the latest advances, posters, practical hands-on sessions, plus the second year of the Scottish e-Assessment Awards.
The conference takes place in the Dalhousie Building at the University of Dundee on Friday September 3rd, from 9.15 am.
