Computing students at the University of Dundee are once again set to take on the Yahoo! Hack Day challenge.
The is the fourth year in a row that students in the School of Computing have taken part in the Hack Day, which challenges computer programmers to come up with fresh, creative ideas
Dundee was the first university to host a Yahoo! Hack Day and remains the only university to have the day as part of the course work for students.
Last year’s winners of the Dundee competition were invited to take part in a global event in London and impressed the judges with a programme called `IntelliSearch’, which allowed users to navigate their way through search engines without ever having to touch the keyboard
'We are delighted to maintain this link with Yahoo! which gives our students a real opportunity to work closely with one of the world’s biggest computing companies,' said Andy Cobley from the School of Computing.
'It is especially exciting this year as we have one of the stunning Microsoft Surface tables for the students to work on, which NCR have provided to the School over the past few months. This is an amazing piece of kit and opens up all sorts of new possibilities in terms of how we access computers and technology.'
The Hack Day runs from 2pm to 5 pm on Friday March 26th in the Queen Mother Building, University of Dundee.
