Brown joins Sir Clement mourners
Gordon Brown joined mourners including Stephen Fry and Bono at the funeral of Sir Clement Freud in London. Mr Brown, a former rector at the University of Edinburgh, told the congregation he first met Sir Clement in 1974 when his friend held the same position at Dundee University.

Medical research lab opened at Dundee hospital
£11.6Million research laboratory in Dundee to help turn scientific advances into commercial products was officially opened by First Minister Alex Salmond yesterday. The lab at Ninewells Hospital has the capacity to accommodate up to 120 staff, compared with the 35 at its previous location at Dundee University.

Young people largely drove the early stages of Internet growth but in recent years the sharpest rise in Web use in developed nations has been amongst people aged 70 and over, experts said Monday. 'Older adults are the fastest growing demographic on the Internet,' said Professor Vicki Hanson of the School of Computing at Scotland's University of Dundee on the opening day of a global World Wide Web conference in Madrid.
