International Student Reception

Wednesday September 24th, photo opps from 5 pm
Bonar Hall

The new intake of international students at the University of Dundee will be welcomed to the city tonight with a special reception.

Hosted by the University's Student Advisory Service, the reception offers the opportunity for new international arrivals to find out more about the services on offer to them as well as make some useful contacts from within the University and the community.

There are huge opportunities for employment after study which allow graduates to remain here as post study workers for two years without needing a work permit or job offer, and the University is keen to introduce the new international students to the local community as early as possible.

Tonight’s event will provide an opportunity for the new arrivals to find out more about local international hospitality schemes, the post study work scheme, small business opportunities through the University’s own Enterprise Gym, the University’s Job Shop which will provide information on part-time working opportunities, as well as Tayside Police who will offer advice on personal safety issues.

Irene Donaldson, Head of the Student Advisory Service, said 'We are delighted that so many local services and organisations continue to support us in providing the right kind of advice and guidance to our community of international students, not only at this early stage, but throughout the year'.

The event is free. Refreshments available.
