D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum - public lecture series

After a very successful summer opening, the University of Dundee’s new Zoology Museum is hosting a series of evening lectures over the next few months. All the talks will be free and open to the public.

On Tuesday 11th November, Dr Steve Hubbard, Reader in Zoology in the Division of Plant Sciences at the University, will be discussing the recent Life Sciences student expedition to the rainforests of Trinidad, where staff and students studied the community ecology of rainforest birds.

The Dundee group, led by Dr Hubbard, made the trip to the Caribbean in June this year, joining a number of key environmental projects including the reintroduction of the Blue and Gold Macaw to the rainforest there.

And on Tuesday 2nd December, Isobel Williams will look at the extraordinary experiences of Edward Wilson as artist and naturalist with Scott’s Discovery expedition and his final, ill-fated Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole.

All the talks start at 6pm in the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum which is in the Carnelley Building, University of Dundee (located to the rear of the Tower Building). Booking is not required - just come along. For further details, contact museum curator Matthew Jarron on 01382 384310 or museum@dundee.ac.uk.
