Fairtrade Campaign Day - Saturday November 29th

Scotland’s first Fairtrade Campaign Day takes place at the University of Dundee on Saturday November 29th.

The event, being held in the Dalhousie Building, is a joint collaboration between The Scottish Fair Trade Forum, The Fairtrade Foundation and Dundee Fairtrade Group and will give Fairtrade campaigners and supporters from all over Scotland the opportunity to participate in in-depth discussions around Fairtrade and get the latest Fairtrade news firsthand.

The University was awarded Fairtrade status earlier this year after a combined effort by the University and the Students Association to stock Fairtrade-approved goods whenever possible.

Andrew Smith, Vice-President of Services for the Students Association, will welcome visitors to the Campaign Day tomorrow.

'I am delighted that we have been able to host this event at the University and can reach out to the wider community and promote the Fairtrade message. We are immensely proud as a Students Association that Dundee holds Fairtrade status,' said Andrew.

This is the first time the Fairtrade Foundation has supported such an event north of the border. Scottish Fair Trade Forum Staff will be there to explain Fairtrade in the Scottish context and to talk about the progress of the Scottish Fair Trade Nation campaign.

The day’s activities run from 10am to 3.30pm. For more information contact Dundee Fairtrade Group on 01382 454603 or see www.scottishfairtradeforum.org.uk.
