Fife celebration to mark 60 years of the NHS

Staff and students at the University of Dundee’s Fife campus will stage a celebration of Nursing this weekend to mark the 60th anniversary of the NHS.

The reunion and family fun day is being held at the Kirkcaldy campus on Saturday July 5th, and will include live music from the band Swank - all of whom are nurses - a History of Nursing exhibition, face painting and other stalls.

All proceeds from the day are being split between two charities - the Lesotho Project and Cedar House, which is the Fife Palliative Care Service.

"Everyone is welcome to join us in marking 60 years of the NHS and celebrating nursing and midwifery in Fife," said Audrey Mears, Lecturer in Nursing at the Fife campus.

"We are especially hoping to see lots of past and present students and staff who have passed through the Kirkcaldy campus."

Entry to the event, which runs from noon to 6 pm on Saturday, is £1 for adults while children will be admitted free.
