Plans coming together for major computing conference in Dundee

The University of Dundee team behind a major computing conference being staged in the city this summer will welcome committee members from across the world this weekend.

The Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE) event, one of the most prestigious on the computing calendar, will take place in Dundee in June, but plans are already well advanced. The theme of the conference is `Inclusive Education in Computer Science'.

This will be the 12th conference in the series, and has attracted a record number of paper submissions. Dr Ramanee Peiris, Program Co-Chair commented "We are delighted with the interest shown in the conference. Over 200 papers have been submitted, and the committee now have the difficult job of choosing which ones will be presented."

Flying in from the US this weekend are Professors Paul Tymann, Rochester Institute of Technology, Ingrid Russell, University of Hartford and Bruce Klein, Grand Valley State University. Also joining the meeting are June Amillo from Madrid and Janet Carter from Kent.

The other members of the team will be contacted by technology, using web conferencing and other online tools. Some of the committee members will only finally meet in person at the conference itself.

During their weekend the visitors will be touring the conference sites including Discovery, the University of Dundee Queen Mother Building and West Park Conference Centre.

The conference is sponsored by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and is being hosted by the School of Computing at the University of Dundee.
